The silver bullion coin African Wildlife – Somalia Elephant has a fineness of 999,9/1000. The first edition of this silver coin was issued in 2004, since then it has increased in popularity year by year. It is minted, with the permission of the Republic of Somalia, in Switzerland.
With the nominal value of this silver coin being 100 Somali shilling, the Somalia Elephant is legal tender in Somalia. On the obverse side of the silver bullion coin is a yearly changing motif of one or more elephants to which the coin owed its popularity and its charms. The motif of the coin is surrounded with the lettering “African Wildlife – Elephant – 1 oz Ag 999”.On the reverse side you find the official coat of arms of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as the nominal value and the year of mintage.
